Mortal Shell 2 Break & Riposte Guide: How to Fill the Break Bar
🎯 TL;DR: Fill an enemy's Break bar with Perfect Guards, Perfect Hardens, or parries, then follow up with a Riposte (execution) for heavy damage.
1. How Break Works
Break isn't just a defensive stat — it's one of your best ways to create offensive openings:
- Land Perfect Guards → small Break damage
- Land Perfect Hardens → Break damage + cooldown refresh
- Land parries (Infinite Seal) → more Break damage, breaks elites much faster
💡 Key mindset: Don't treat parrying/guarding purely as defense. Against the right boss, it's your fastest route to huge damage via Break → Riposte.
2. The Riposte (Execution)
Once the Break Gauge is full, perform a Riposte. A successful Riposte:
- Takes a sizeable chunk out of the enemy's health
- Gives you a valuable opening to keep the pressure on
3. Build Break Faster
- Use the Infinite Seal for duels — its parry breaks elites fastest
- Chain Perfect Hardens — each one refreshes the cooldown and adds Break
- Weave defense into offense — Harden and parry both cancel animations, so you never have to stop attacking to build Break
⚠️ Red attacks: Unblockable sweeps, grabs and impales can't be guarded, hardened, or parried — they don't build Break, they just kill you. Dodge them.
