Mortal Shell 2 Clockwork Scythe Guide: The Best AoE Weapon (But Weak vs Bosses)
🎯 TL;DR: The Clockwork Scythe has 12 Tarstone slots and the best AoE clear in the game — great for overworld trash mobs. But against bosses it falls apart (short reach, slow attacks). Get it from Sariel.
1. What It's Actually Good At
Forget the "broken one-shot" hype — the Clockwork Scythe's real strength is clearing groups:
- 12 Tarstone slots — huge build flexibility
- Best AoE clear in the game — genuinely useful moving through the overworld
- Rebuildable late-game — 12 slots let you reconfigure it 15+ hours in
⚠️ The honest catch: Against bosses it falls apart — it lacks the reach and attack speed that higher-tier weapons bring to single-target fights.
2. Where to Find It
- Go to the Chamber of Becoming, a dungeon near the Silent Steps Beacon in the Ruins of Mammon
- Fight Sariel, the Endless — he escapes the first fight when his health drops
- Follow him up the steps and finish him in the chamber
- The scythe drops from him (he also unlocks as a Shell)
💡 Note: The map costs 3000 coins from Merrick — steep enough that most players should skip it on a first run and spend those coins on Tarforge upgrades instead.
3. How to Use It Well
- Use it for overworld clearing — that's where its AoE shines
- Swap to a boss weapon — like the Axe and Dagger or Great Martyr's Blade
- Use the 12 slots to experiment — you can rebuild it into different configurations
🎯 Bottom line: The Clockwork Scythe is a specialized mob-clearing tool, not a boss-killer. Great in the overworld, but bring a dedicated single-target weapon for bosses.
