Grisha Pup Quest Guide: Free the Little Beast
馃幆 TL;DR: West of the first Mushroom Village Beacon is a hunter camp with a caged Grisha Pup. Buy the Cage Key (250 coins) 鈥?or break the lock 鈥?free the pup, rest at a Beacon, then come back to reunite it with its mother for a Sheephead Totem and a Glimpse.
1. Where to Find the Grisha Pup
- Region: Mushroom Village, east of the first Beacon (right outside the Chapel that holds the Axe and Dagger)
- From the Mushroom Village Beacon, turn left and go through the small doorway
- Beside the large cage is a beastman shopkeeper selling a few wares, including a Cage Key for 250 Coins
2. Buy the Key (or break the lock)
鈿狅笍 Buy everything you want from the beastman NOW: once you buy the key and leave, his shop becomes unavailable. The Grisha Remnant he sells is otherwise only found on Grisha Matron corpses later in the game 鈥?grab it if you can afford it.
- Option A (recommended): Buy the Cage Key for 250 coins and unlock the cage
- Option B (free): Attack the lock directly with a melee attack 鈥?this has no major downside and frees the pup too
- Option C (hostile): Kill the beastman shopkeeper 鈥?starts a fight, not worth it
馃挕 Sheephead Totem: unlocking the cage gives you the Sheephead Totem. As an active item it morphs you into a sheep; as a passive it lowers all enemy HP by 1%. Small on paper, but stronger on big enemies 鈥?and copies exist to stack it.
3. Rest, Then Return
The pup is too scared to interact right after you free it. Head back to the Mushroom Village Beacon and rest to reset the world 鈥?this advances the quest. On your return you'll find the beastman is dead and the pup's mother has come to collect her baby.
Approach and the pup happily recognizes you, calming its mother and offering you a Glimpse for your trouble. Reunited, you may now deal with the Grisha as you wish.
