Vlas Quest Guide: Rescue the Merchant & His Cat Mutton

🎯 TL;DR: Find Vlas wounded in early Mammon, help find his cat Mutton, then rescue him from bandits at Lonesome Spire using the Unremarkable Key. Meet him again at Marrow Keep for the Coin of Mammon — twice — and you can pet Mutton forever after.

1. Find Vlas in Early Mammon

  1. Start at the first Mammon Beacon and follow the path down the hill past the Soldiers
  2. After the lightning-launching Crossbow Soldier, dive off the stone path to the left
  3. At the base of a broken wagon you'll find Vlas — wounded but alive
  4. Interact, then inspect the empty cage with a wooden box leaning on it — his cat Mutton is missing

Vlas thanks you and sends you on your way, handing over your first Coin of Mammon. Rest at the Beacon and return to see him off — he resigns himself to going back to the bandits.

2. Rescue Vlas at Lonesome Spire

  1. Warp to the Gate of Mammon Beacon and climb the wooden ramps up the Lonesome Spire
  2. Hug the left side; find the massive wooden lift and pull its lever to bring it down (watch for coffin-based flesh monsters)
  3. Ride up to arrive behind a bandit camp in the center of the Spire
💡 Find the Unremarkable Key: it's in a wooden shack hidden behind a breakable wall in the camp. Get it before freeing Vlas.
⚠️ Shop closes: a Brigand in the camp sells wares — buy what you want now, because his shop closes permanently once you save Vlas.

With the key, interact with Vlas's cage repeatedly to convince him to flee later that night.

3. Recruit Vlas to Marrow Keep

  1. Return to early Mammon (Vlas's original spot) and find his thank-you letter — he means to live freely with Mutton
  2. Go to Marrow Keep; head toward Sester Genessa's training area from the central Beacon
  3. Find Vlas there, happy to have a sanctuary — he hands over a second Coin of Mammon
  4. Interact with Mutton to pet the cat whenever you're in Marrow Keep
🎯 Bottom line: "Help Vlas twice, free Mutton, meet him at the Keep." A short but rewarding multi-stop quest that pays Coins of Mammon and adds a pet-able cat to your hub.
