Mortal Shell 2 Upgrade Materials Guide: The Tarforge Ladder
馃幆 TL;DR: Five materials feed the Tarforge as your weapon rises in level: Ventrium (+1鈥?5), Laterite (+6鈥?10), Dorsalite (+11鈥?15), Thoracium (+16鈥?20) and Ossinite (+21鈥?25). The Endless Core removes the cap so you can push past +25. Gloom is NOT an upgrade material.
1. The Enhancement Ladder
| Material | Weapon / Sidearm level |
|---|---|
| Ventrium | +1 to +5 |
| Laterite | +6 to +10 |
| Dorsalite | +11 to +15 |
| Thoracium | +16 to +20 |
| Ossinite | +21 to +25 |
| Endless Core | Removes the level cap (+25+) |
2. How It Works
- Enhancement happens at the Tarforge in Marrow Keep, run by Franz
- Each level up consumes the material for that tier plus Coin
- Materials are spent 鈥?make sure you're enhancing the right weapon
鈿狅笍 Gloom is not a material: some guides confuse it, but Gloom levels the Harbinger (Shell Points), not weapons. Only the five materials + Endless Core feed the Tarforge.
3. Where They Come From
- Materials drop from enemies and chests throughout the world, scaling with later regions
- Higher-tier materials (Thoracium, Ossinite) appear mostly in late-game areas and optional bosses
- The Endless Core is a special item that must be installed at the Tarforge interface to raise the ceiling
4. Early-Game Advice
馃幆 Bottom line: "Unlock the Tarforge early, then push your main weapon." Get the Muradean Actuator in the prologue to unlock weapon enhancement, and spend Ventrium on your primary weapon first 鈥?the flat damage jump beats spreading materials thin.
